Margaret Barret cannot remember a time when she did not draw & paint horses. Born over looking the Derby course at Epsom, she spent her early years watching racehorses exercising.
Margaret’s work has sold World wide and has been exhibited in the US, Europe, Tokyo & Dubai. She is one of fifty artists invited to take part in a exhibition organized by the International League for the protection of Horses opened by HRH The princess royal. Margaret’s painting was chosen to illustrate the ILPHs Christmas card.
Margaret’s clients include Aynsley china, Royal Doulton, Spellers, Gallifords PLC and many owners and breeders. Felix Rosensteil and Sally Mitchell Fine Arts have published limited editions of her fine paintings.
Her work has also appeared as book illustrations and on many greetings cards. She is a full member of The Equestrian Artists Society and has won the annual prize for best oil painting held in a exhibition at Christies. She also exhibits with the Royal Society of Marine Artists, and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, The Society of Women Artists.
Her equestrian paintings show a lifetime of love and understanding of Horses and the Countryside, but her specialty is Racing scenes. She responds to the power and grace of these magnificent animals by capturing a sense of movement and grace.
